]]> The new Opportune has arrived in Scalloway. It is a replacement for the vessel lost as sea over 1 year ago. The new boat is 23.59m long.

It is expected that the boat will commence fishing in April once rigging out is complete. Landings will be in Peterhead as it is planned that the vessel will pair with a mainland boat.

A 44% increase in Cod has been recommended as well as a 19% increase in Coley.

]]> The latest addition to the Shetland whitefish fleet is the impressive Ocean Challenge, LK253. The vessel is a replacement for the Ocean Way LK207 which was lost in 2017. The boat is 28.5m long and was completed in Killybegs. The new boat marks a very encouraging year for Shetland’s fishing industry with the recent upgrade to the Opportune and the completion of the two new fishmarkets.
